Leadership:

WWV President

Gloria Mick

US Air Force Retired

Welcome!  Thank you for your interest in the Women Warrior Veterans of Wilson County group. As veterans, we strive to provide a forum where we can share our ideas and concerns about our benefits, socialize with other women veterans and participate in veteran-focused activities in our communities.

Women in the Group served in different branches of the Services, globally and within the United States for a myriad of enlistments and service commitments.

I am an Air Force Chief Master Sergeant (Retired).  My last position was as Chief, Air Force Casualty Services at the Air Force Personnel Center on Randolph AFB, TX.  I am originally from Northern Michigan, a native Yooper!  I was assigned to many different overseas locations, including the far North, Thule, Greenland.  Upon retirement, using my Veteran educational benefits, I attended the University of Texas, San Antonio, graduating with Honors as a Human Resource Manager.  I’ve worked in the private sector as a Benefits Budget Analysist and with the Department of the Army as its Benefits Administrator.  I retired in July 2020.

I am a Past President of the Women in the Air Force (WAF) Association, a group of over 500 veteran and retired Airmen, some who still actively serve. My husband, Alan and I have two grown children who live in the San Antonio area. We volunteer at the SA Food Bank in its Apple Corps program, and I work part-time at a local funeral home.

The Women Warrior Veterans are an inspiring, service-focused group who bring their collective service and professional experience to the Wilson County community.  We look forward to you joining us!

WWV Vice President

Holli Smith

U.S. Army Retired

I joined the Army Reserves in December 1985.  I chose the Reserves to give me the experience needed in Food Services since I was working on a degree in Food Service/Hotel Management.  I spent the next 27+ years doing a job I loved, while at the same time being able to raise my 2 children.  During my service years, I was deployed in 1991 for Operation Desert and OIF/OEF.  I traveled to Germany, Panama and multiple national training exercises throughout the United States.  I had the opportunity to meet and train with some of the best soldiers who taught me to push myself and always give my best.

Come join us!  Remember, once a soldier, always a soldier.

Welcome!  I am happy you are viewing our Group website.  The Women Warrior Veterans of Wilson County have a lot to offer our members and the local communities of Wilson County.  I joined the Organization in September 2021 and since have met many interesting people.  I joined the Air Force soon after graduating high school to see the world.  My first duty station was 35 miles from home!  Eighteen months later, I was seeing the world.  I met my husband (retired AF) while skiing in Austria.  I spent 10 yrs as a photo processor after which I separated the AF to become a full-time mother and wife.  I have 2 grown children and the grandmother of 3 boys.  In 1999 I decided to return to the work force, working for the Dept of the Army as a Budget Analysis.  In 2019 I retired from Civil Service, the Defense Intelligence Agency, as a Financial Manager.  I enjoy time with my family and friends, and quilting.  I still enjoy seeing new places and destinations.

Welcome! We would love for you to learn more about and join this great organization. I have been a member since May 2021 and am so glad I took the leap and went to a meeting even though I didn’t know anyone. It wasn’t but I few minutes, until I felt right at home and welcomed.

I joined the Air Force right out of High School from a small town in Arkansas, Bull Shoals, in 1988. I served proudly until 2009 when I retired as a Senior Master Sergeant. My 20 years Active Duty, as a personnel specialist, provided many opportunities and assignments all around the world. My last position was on the Air Force Space Command Inspector General (IG) team in Colorado Springs, CO, as the personnel inspector. Upon retiring from the AF, I joined the civil service work force and continued serving on the AFSPC IG Team for 10 years before relocating to Randolph AFB where I continue serving as Inspector.

My husband also served and retired from the Air Force after 25 years. We have two adult children who were raised around the military life and know what life is like packing up and moving on time and time again. I love volunteering, being outdoors gardening, going on long walks or runs, and hanging out with friends and family. Serving as secretary of WWV is a pleasure for me. I enjoy the opportunities to give back to the community, and I value the friendship of all the wonderful veteran women.
